The invitation does two jobs: it shares the auspicious time and it helps people find a home they have never visited. A funvite invite carries both, opening like a lit diya or an envelope, then showing the muhurat, a map pin to the new address, and directions to the right tower and floor.
What to include
- Family name and the new address, written out in full: building, tower, flat, floor.
- The muhurat or pooja time, and when lunch or dinner will be served.
- Map pin, landmark, and entry or parking instructions for the society.
- The rituals if you want guests to be there for a particular one (havan, vastu shanti, Satyanarayan katha).
- A gift note if you have a preference.
- A contact number for directions.
Timing and guests
The muhurat is often early in the morning, so close family may come for the pooja and friends join for lunch. If that is the plan, give both times. For a flat in a new building, tell guests about the lift, the visitor parking and any construction still going on nearby. For the casual party later, see our house party invitation page.
