Around the wedding there are the sakhar puda (engagement), haldi, simant pujan for the groom's arrival, and often a reception. A funvite invite keeps the patrika's tone and puts each of these on its own page, with a map pin and the exact time.
Conventions of a Marathi lagna patrika
The card begins with "॥ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥" and usually names the family's kuladevata. The bride is written as "चि. सौ. कां." (chiranjeevi saubhagyakankshini) and the groom as "चि.". The request is for guests to attend "सहकुटुंब सहपरिवार" and bless the couple — "वधूवरांस शुभाशीर्वाद द्यावेत".
The muhurta is written to the minute. Families often add a gentle line asking guests to arrive on time for akshata, and a note that the meal (bhojan) follows the ceremony.
- Ganesh invocation and kuladevata
- Names with "चि. सौ. कां." for the bride and "चि." for the groom, with parents' names
- Shubh muhurta: date, day and exact time
- Venue (mangal karyalay or hall) with a map link
- Other functions: sakhar puda, haldi, simant pujan, reception
- Closing: "आपले नम्र" or "निमंत्रक" with family names
Why a digital patrika helps
Guests often arrive at the karyalay with only a forwarded photo of the card. A link keeps the address, map and time readable, and if the muhurta shifts, everyone sees the change. On Pro, RSVPs tell you how many plates to plan for the bhojan.
