These are often large family occasions with relatives travelling from other cities, sometimes held over a day or two. A funvite invite can carry the full programme, each ritual as a separate event with its time, plus the venue, the meal, and stay details for out-of-town guests, in a single WhatsApp link that stays up to date.
What to include
- The boy's name, usually with "chi." (chiranjeev), and the parents and grandparents as hosts.
- The name your family uses for the ceremony.
- The muhurat, and the schedule if there are several rituals.
- Venue with map link; for temples or halls, the hall name.
- Meal timings.
- Stay and travel details for relatives coming from out of town.
Tone and language
These invitations are usually traditional, opening with an invocation to Ganesha or the family deity and written in Hindi, Marathi, Sanskrit-influenced Telugu, Kannada or Tamil, depending on the family. Bilingual invites, with the traditional text first and a short English version after, work well for younger relatives and friends.
