This page covers the traditional kankotri format and wording. For the full run of Gujarati wedding functions — pithi, mameru, raas-garba and the lagna — see the Gujarati wedding invitation page.
The traditional kankotri format
Many families still mark the first kankotri with kumkum and place it before Ganesh or at their temple. You can do this with a printed copy and use a digital kankotri for everyone else.
- ॥ શ્રી ગણેશાય નમઃ ॥ and the kuldevi's name
- The inviting elders — grandparents and parents — often with the family's native place
- The bride or groom as "ચિ." with the other family's details
- The lagna date and muhurat, then each function
- Bhojan (meal) timing
- "લિ." (likhitang) followed by the family members who send the invitation
Digital kankotri, same respect
The digital version keeps the invocation and the "li." list, but guests can tap each function for its time and map. If the jaan's arrival time changes on the day, update the invite and everyone sees it.
