Kannada wedding invitation

In Karnataka the wedding card is the lagna patrike. It usually opens with an invocation, names the bride and groom with their parents, and gives the muhurtha with care — the dhare (when the bride's father gives her hand) and the mangalya dharane happen within it. Some communities also include kashi yatre and saptapadi in the day's sequence.

Weddings are often preceded by the nischitartha (engagement) and followed or preceded by a reception. A funvite invite keeps each one on its own page, readable in Kannada and English, with a map pin for the choultry or hall.

What to put on a Kannada lagna patrike

Wording in Kannada usually asks guests to come with family ("ಕುಟುಂಬ ಸಮೇತರಾಗಿ") and bless the couple. Keep the language formal on the main card and warmer in the WhatsApp message you send with it.

What is a lagna patrike?

It is the Kannada term for the wedding invitation card. The same word, with small variations, is used across several Indian languages.

Should we list kashi yatre and saptapadi?

Only if you want guests to see them. Most guests need the muhurtha time, the venue and the reception; a short line about the rituals is optional.

Can we send the nischitartha invite separately?

Yes — make a copy of the invite with only that event, or include it as one of the events in the main invite.

Will Kannada text look right on all phones?
